Incheon National University (President: Park Jong-tae) announced on the 17th that it has successfully completed the INChina Civic Academy <Changing World, Redrawn Korea-China Relations> for Incheon citizens with the Incheon Human Resources Lifelong Education Promotion Agency, the Incheon Institute, and the Hyundai Chinese Society.
The course was promoted by the Chinese Academy of Sciences along with the three institutions as part of this year's "In China Forum" civic sympathy project, and was well received for its significance in that local public institutions, universities, researchers, and academic organizations collaborated to contribute to the local community by providing high-quality lifelong education.
The Inchina Civic Academy was conducted in conjunction with the Incheon Human Resources Lifelong Education Promotion Agency's honorary civic university program, which is Incheon Metropolitan City's lifelong education system. Four institutions, including Incheon National University's China Academy, signed an agreement to develop lifelong education for Incheon citizens and discover and operate joint projects to create a cooperative platform between public institutions, universities, research institutes, and academic organizations in Incheon.
This process is meaningful at the present time as citizens want to portray the future of Korea-China relations together through an accurate and balanced understanding of China's history, culture, and social economy. "Modern China Reading Classics" by Professor Min Gwi-sik of Hanyang University, "The Chinese City Understood by Geography and Space" by Professor Kim Soo-han of Incheon Institute, "Special Global City Hong Kong" by Professor Jang Jeong-ah of Incheon National University, "Chinese Culture Viewed by Video Content" by Professor Park Gye-hwa of Incheon National University's China and Chinese Culture Research Institute, "Familiar but Unfamiliar Chinese Society and Politics" by Professor Jang Yoon-mi of Dongseo University, "Relationship between China and its Neighboring Countries" by Heo Jae-chul of Korea Institute for International Economic Policy, "Today and Tomorrow of the Chinese Economy" by Professor Lee Hyun-tae of the Department of Chinese and Chinese Studies at Incheon National University, "Today and Tomorrow of the Chinese Industry," "World, China, and Incheon" by Professor Cho Hyung-jin of Incheon National University's Chinese Academy, "Asia Peace and Relations with Countries in the Asia-Pacific," and "China, Chinese and Chinatown in Korea" by Professor Lee Jung-hee of Incheon National University's Chinese Academy.
In particular, the lecture by Lee Jung-hee, vice president of Incheon National University's Chinese Academy, was held along with a field trip to Incheon Chinatown, allowing students to experience history and culture that they had not known before.
Professor Jang Jung-ah, head of the Chinese Academy at Incheon National University, said, "Our academic institute will continue to do its best to meet various learning needs and intellectual needs of Incheon citizens and contribute to the development of the local community together with Incheon Metropolitan City, Incheon Institute, and Incheon Human Resources Lifelong Education Promotion Agency." Along with the InChina Forum, which is a leading model for public-private industry-academic cooperation platforms in local communities, the InChina Civic Academy is expected to serve as a good education and exchange platform for citizens.
